Here's a summary of responsibilities:
Reporting to the Sr. Facility Operations Manager, the Master Electrician oversees electrical projects, installation, maintenance, and repair of the USOPC electrical and lighting systems. This role involves ensuring compliance with electrical codes and safety standards and providing expert guidance on complex electrical projects and issues. This team member must also be willing to collaborate on other maintenance tasks or projects as a part of the USOPC facilities team.
Here's how you'll have an impact:
- Project Management: Plan, execute, and oversee electrical projects from inception to completion. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, control systems, and other equipment.
- Provide preventive and predictive maintenance of the electrical systems, conducting daily rounds and readings.
- Ensure all work complies with organization, local, state, and national electrical codes and safety regulations. Conduct regular inspections and maintain proper safety documentation.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical work, including maintenance logs, project plans, blueprints, and inspection reports.
- With limited supervision, create and implement Electrical Standard Operating procedures for USOPC.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all emergency repairs. Ensuring preventive measures are taken to mitigate any future issues.
- Identify when an external contractor or vendor is needed. Lead the integration and management of any contractor or vendor for electrical needs on USOPC property.
- Communicate with stakeholders regarding electrical needs and ensure customer satisfaction through high-quality service delivery.
- Stay current with the latest advancements in electrical technology and industry best practices. In coordination with the Sr. Facility Operations Manager, recommend and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Play a role in increasing awareness and providing education on eco-friendly electrical practices across USOPC.
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Master Electrician license in the state of Colorado
- Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License
- 5-7 years of hands-on or engineering experience as an electrical tradesman
- 4+ years' experience in electrical service work and troubleshooting
- 2-4 years experience in a campus-type setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Proven customer service skills
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical codes.
- Ability to troubleshoot controls and electrical systems with amp meters, volt meters, tracers, and recording devices
- Ability to troubleshoot variable frequency drives (VFD) drivers and controls
- Knowledge of single-phase and three-phase AC circuits
- Strong understanding of local codes and ordinances
- Knowledge and use of Electrical Controllers
- Knowledge and use of Fire/Life Safety Systems (Fast, Kiddie Thorn, 'EST. 3')
- Experienced in implementing safety procedures in the workplace
- Strong organizational skills, ability to coordinate and meet multiple deadlines of projects simultaneously with minimal direction
- Ability to interact well with the public in a highly visited public space

- Occasional non-traditional work schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and/or on-call rotations
- Occasional domestic and international travel
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, sometimes for extended periods
- Ability to use ladders, scaffolding, and/or a scissor lift
- The job requires the employee to walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and regularly lift and/or move 50 lbs. Occasionally lift and/or move heavy objects utilizing proper tools and leverage methods over 75 lbs.
- Ability to work with power tools, small motorized equipment, and vehicles, such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, power tools, and hand tools
- Ability to proficiently use computers and other technologies (iPads, smartphones, etc.)
- Ability to use Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Excel, CMMS Work Order Management Service System, etc.
- Regular attendance at work is an essential job function
Here's where you'll work:
- This hub-based position will regularly work from the Colorado Springs Olympic & Paralympic Training Center and other local USOPC business sites.
Here's some more information you need to know:
- Hiring Pay Range: $31.88 – $37.46 per hour.
- This full-time, non-exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program at a 5% target. This program is subject to change or elimination by the USOPC at any time at its sole discretion.
